I took 1 hour and a half working on this one
I don't have image edition tools so I used mspaint (windows 7 version) which is buggy cause sometimes selection transparency (while copying or moving pixels) works and sometimes don't.

I got color samples from his kimono to make the mask and the headband
as the whole thing had anti-alias and I can't do anti-alias in paint I took a lot of color samples from the borders so I could make a "fake anti-alias" effect.

I'm not happy with the swords and I'm not happy with the pants shading...
I may edit it later... I wanted to edit the whole sprite sheet but I took 1.5 hours on this single image, so it would be a whole month to finish that skin for rudolf...

I suggest you get Gimp. It's free and won't take much space in your com.


@betitngoan: That's common for beginners. I take the same amount of time when I first try spritting too (mostly because I can't do good style).

I'm a perfectionist so when I don't like it I press ctrl+z a couple times and re-do XD
I took 1 hour and a half because of other stuff I was doing at the same time too
other than that I tried to make fake anti-alias, so copying the colors pixel by pixel making a palette with them and adjusting the shade... I never made a sprite before...

Realistic Rudolf weapon

open with paint, save as "spite\sys\rudolf_weapon.bmp" and erase rudolf_weapon_mirror.bmp

from ring border to one of the tips it has 10 pixels, to draw the diagonal points I had to calculate using sin(60)*10 = 8.6, which I rounded to 8, so the diagonal tips are slighter smaller than the vertical and horizontal ones.
for the 60 degree line it's as simple as for each 1 pixel down you must go 2 then 1 pixels left, so you draw 2, one line down, draw 1, one line down draw 2, etc, etc...

don't blame paint, that should only take about 5-10 min (even with consitant shading)
also nice weapon.....

Hey, not everyone is as 1337 and PrO as you are at spriting.
You guys (read: just about everyone who visits this site) should treat newcomers more nicely...

Ontopic: Nice sprites, but where are the swords you are not satisfied with?
The shading on the pants do need some work, but the realistic shuriken is awesome.
Will you turn this into an actual character or are you just practicing spriting?

light reflexes just like the original one had

@JossuaDC: the swords are where every ninja carries them (on the back), you can see the handles on the shoulder are not well sprited.
About turning it into a char... I would like, but it will take a lot of time...
maybe when I'm bored =)

Idea was to make a better skin for rudolf (seeing as ALF's one is just a recolor :/ )
