Background Issue [Transparency]
#1
I hope this is the right forum to post in! =D

Programme used: "Paint.net"

Following problem occured while testing
a new background I'm working on:

When I was about to test the middle
pattern of the "template 1" map has
some dark spots which should be ac-
tually transparent but when Im testing
the map, it's just black.

Solution: ????

This is just my assumption, not sure if its true for bg making as well
when creating transparency it is most likely going to create black areas,
like if u have ever tried spriting in transparency it will not have the same effect in the game...
Really don't try to add a transparency to bg's or sprites...
u could try Bamboori's "Transparency Filters for use", they are good to create such an effect ;D

Thanks for the link. Looks helpful.

What I actually want to do is to change
the black colour (which is in no way tra-
nsparent, its just pitch black.) to become
invisible. =)

Are you sure that these black areas are actually covered with "pictures" aswell?
Because if they're not covered, then, even though there is transparency, it still shows up as black, because there simply is "nothing".
Awesome sentence structure.

@Lauli
Yes there's a hung guy on it for testing purposes
but the background of that picture is still pitch
dark black.

@Bamboori
I tried configuring the transparency already and
it's still black.

Did you not "transparency: 1" in the layer?
Hm, if it's not that, then I seriously can't figure it out.

I'll go to bed for now.
Gonna try to figure it out
tomorrow. If it still won't
work I'll edit it in this post.

Thanks for your help guys.

EDIT: Nope, nothing works.
Not sure what I'm doing
wrong. Maybe it's some-
thing obvious but iunno.

Add me to icq if you like to help
me through that. =)

Just a hunch but by "pitch black" I assume you do mean RGB "0,0,0", yea?

Other than that I cannot think of anything either except try another LF2 version or try switching your color mode (16,32,64 bit)
