Art Surface Error...
#1
"Couldn't create art surface!" GARGH!
Stupid LF2 keeps showing me this ****** message... WITHOUT ANY VISIBLE REASON... -.-

Following situation:
I wanted to draw some new sprites. I suck at drawing, so i wanted to make stickman sprites.
I made one, gave him some skin colour, copied the template-bmps (to have that green grid) and replaced the first 4 frames (standing frames) with my pic to test, how it looks.
ERROR.
I checked the file paths (all correct), then i tried to give template.dat my test-sprites.
ERROR.
I thought, that LF2 maybe couldn't read the skin colour, so i made a black-white sprite.
ERROR.
As next step i tried the grid sheet without any frames in it.
ERROR.
And... as last try a simple black bmp.
ERROR.

DANG IT!

WhyTH it keeps showing me that stupid error? >.>
Somebody please tell me, what could be it...

Are you really really really sure it is exactly the right path and are you sure you saved and write is as .bmp?

All that I can think of atm are:
# memory issues ---> restart
# messed up exe ---> reinstall
# strange thingy ---> change loading order (aka. switch lines in data.txt)
# more strange thingy ---> switch bmp to 8-bit/24-bit color mode (whichever you don't have right now)

If i extra write, i have checked the file path, asking "have you surely checked it" is complete nonsense, you knew?

Messed up exe cannot be, other sprites work (made with same program etc).
Loading folder thingy doesn't work, too...

I wil try the other both, exspecially last one...

Pff.. I'm sure it's just something that you don't see.

Install LF2 new and test it out, or create all again from the beginning. Have fun.

VdeM!

But i found the "problem" btw... I guess it had to do with the template.dat...
Is working now, i can beginn to make creepy stickman sprites...

SHOULDN"T THIS BE LF2 DISSCUSION? rolleyes
A sequence of variables thatre engraved since the beginning of the cosmos is responsible for animating things in reality

Vive La Caps Lock...

It is in sprites, cuz (i guess) EVERY good spriter experiences such errors sometimes. Therefore (i thought) here i would get more and faster answers then anywhere else.
And since it was a SPRITE-Problem, why it shouldn't be in the SPRITE-forum ^^
