Data Workstation 0.5d Released~ 21st June 2009
#11
Hey I have a question. :D
How fast does it take for your DC program to open up a DC file, and does it take up a lot of RAM and processing power (like Rammichael's Data Changer)?.

Sry for the short post but that is all the questions I have for now. :D

you are missing some highlighting

<weapon_strength_list> <weapon_strength_list_end> action: backhurtact: entry: fronthurtact: file: type: weapon_hp: weapon_drop_hurt: when_clear_goto_phase:

edit: i too am missing find and replace functions

the frame maker will be awesome if you can manage to make it load and show the pic of the frame your cursor is in
and maybe display all areas/points(correct center!with shadow) and the one your cursor is in highlighted - possibly drag edges/corners/points/image to change them - if you do it like that you should discard the preset tags at the bottom and instead have a toolbox with them (like pen/brush/select/wand but instead your bpoint/copoint/bdy/itr/etc)
otherwise it wont really be handy for actual work but rather once again just a tool to visualize what youve done there

maybe add a right click to the tab bar with close tab/new tab/edit as new tab(copy)/close other tabs

the file browser doesn seem to support type searching - like im in my personal folder, i type 'L' and expect to have the lf folder selected - i dont like wasting time scrolling through everything

your decryption/opening method seems rather slow ...

I think it's some java-related problem. Silva and I tried to optimized the algorithm as good as possible but it still took 4.5secs to read, decrypt, and save the file.

Reading + decrypting is fast... It's just getting the output out(from the stream to GUI). Need to use more streams :p.

What is the Frame Maker and the Reference for? I have used this Data Changer to open a few files but nothing appear at this two places. I use Window vista 32bit

Yea, just tried to open bandit.dat. Takes 4 secs, so there's no real disadvantage or sorta that ;)

As far as I know, Frame-Maker is either to display a sprite with coordinates OR helping you create whole frames. Dunno. But obviously there is no real purpose for them in the latest version.

just for research i tested out some program languages. i found out that c# is a little bit faster (just a little bit) than java. And also C/C++ is ways faster than both of them.

so its:
C/C++ >C# >Java
so if you want it to load in one sec or so you have to make it in C/C++ even if i don't know how to make it with this programming language.

@azzy: Great program so far. I wait for updates. Such programs motivate me to program something myself. Keep it up, dude

@Yinyin
didn't include "type:", still can't find it. plus,

@topic
loading times has been greatly increased (from a possible 18 seconds, to 0.3 seconds (using bandit.dat)). I took away comment highlighting and the file(XX): thingy (apparently including one would make it jump to 9 secs, and including both made it jump to 18 secs). "file:" is highlighted. all other tags Yinyin mentioned are included. (no - "type:" isn't included).
the reason this thing is 7 mb this time is coz of the browser extension (next time i won't put the ext folder in (you still need it so just replace the jar file in future updates).
another big thing to mention is, you can create the reference pages yourself now (like anyone's gonna do it =c; everyone's probably gonna wait for someone else to do it and eventually no one does it... (don't push everything to BP/MH guys, you can help too)).
gotta mention though, the browser doesn't load everything nicely (so LFE looks weird if u make a link there, that's y i didn't use the panel with the URL bar and stuff - thought it's better with everything offline).

Ctrl + 1 and Ctrl + 2 shows and hides the reference/framemaker panels.

config.ini can be edited (to an extent).

first line would be font name, selectable from
Monospaced, SansSerif, Serif, Dialog, DialogInput (i just copied those from irc =s)
2nd line is font size
3rd line is normal font colour (rgb)
4th is comment colour, but isn't used =\
5th is stuff like <bmp_begin> and <phase>
6th is stuff like itr: itr_end: etc.
7th are normal tags like pic: hit_a: etc.

phewsh.

right
let me add just a few more to the cant find them list

<background> <background_end> <file_editing> <file_editing_end>
<object> <object_end>

edit: it did get faster - but it still feels slow

Is the slow loading time because of the many extra fancy functions? Or is it the decoding algorithm?

@Azriel
If it loads slower because of the fancy functions...
You might want to consider making another version without all the tutorials, visual frame-making, and what-not. Just put in all the basic skips from Jiquera's Data Changer and add the skips for frame elements and post it as a simplified version.
