I see your point. It somehow doesn't fit, but it's hard for me to figure out what I need to change. I tried to approach Apoc's style, because I like the idea to drawi heads and arms bigger in order to display more emotion.
Also I have a hard time finding the right color combination. Here's what I still have from my old sprites: Thanks given by: Marko

your sprites are generally good. you havent put a face in the first char.
a prob that i see is that the light in the legs of the last char looks weird imo. looks like his pants have another color, or like some while bold is on them.

Those are old sprites, which I used to work on. Maybe I'll redraw them in the future. (also that's why the eyes are missing. I was just starting to sprite and didn't know how to draw them).

you still need to work a lot on your proportions. your shading is quite good. The only drawback I see is, oddly shaped muscles. But for a beginner its really good! Keep up your good work!

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to focus on proportions for the next sprite.
A technical question tho' : How do you choose your colors? I find it extremely hard to balance (a) the different colors themselves and (b) the relationship between light and dark colors

Well, i am not an expert when it comes to color schemes, but you can try contrastive colors for torso and pants. For shadows, if you use PS in color picker, mess around with B and S section (Default is H radio button) . You can also take color schemes from real life examples to make things easier!
